For over a year my office has been working with the community and city staff to streamline the construction of a new recreational space for Otay Mesa. Cesar Solis Community Park will have multiple phases to its construction, including an aquatics and recreation center. The first phase of construction recent began, and soon the community will be able to enjoy the following:
• A new multi-purpose athletic field with lighting and backstops;
• Open recreation areas, walking paths and parking;
• A service building with restrooms and a snack bar;
• Picnic areas with shade structures;
• Playground areas;
• A skate plaza
The value that public parks deliver to our communities is unmeasurable. Parks provide a secure environment for our children; they improve the quality of life in our communities — we need more of them, and I will do all I can to ensure the City works on bringing more of these open spaces to our neighborhoods.
