At the start of last year, San Diego’s Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) initiated a pilot program which increased the level of service for the 905 Bus Route. Service expanded between the Otay Mesa Port of Entry and Iris Avenue Transit Center throughout the weekday, plus it added all-day weekend service.
Under this pilot program, route 905 has experienced a substantial increase in ridership convincing staff at MTS to recommend that the major service change becomes permanent, effective January 2017.
Living and working in border communities offers an unmatched opportunity for San Diegans to bring prosperity directly into their communities. These opportunities are only attainable if we build and invest in the necessary infrastructure to ensure residents can easily move between different points of interests. Staff recommendations; that these major service changes becoming permanent enhancements are an appropriate response to the increase in service that route 905 has experienced.
