On January 13, 2017, the San Diego Housing Commission Board discussed HCRl 7-005- Request for Single Room Occupancy Hotel (SRO) Determination. The board voted to approve the determination that 701 E. San Ysidro Boulevard is not a Single Room Occupancy and is not subject to SRO Hotel Regulations. This action also denied the authorization of relocation benefits to each of the low-income tenants of the Gateway Inn.
On January 19111, we requested that this item be placed on the Housing Authority agenda for full discussion and final action per Council Ordinance 0-20746. We had concerns with regards to tenants that would not receive relocation benefits due to the Gateway Inn not being classified as an SRO.
In light of a negotiated settlement with the owner of the Gateway Inn that requires the payment of relocation benefits to the remaining residents, we respectfully withdraw the request for this item to be heard by the Housing Authority on March 21, 2017.
