Assemblymember David Alvarez, Educational Leaders and Students Celebrate the Passage of the Phone Free School Act

San Diego, CA – Assemblymember David Alvarez (D- San Diego) will be hosting a press conference to commend the passage of Assembly Bill 3216, co-authored by Assemblymember Josh Hoover (R-Folsom) and Assemblymember Alvarez. This landmark legislation will require California school districts to limit student smartphone use during the school day by July 2026. The Phone-Free School Act makes California the fifth state to require all public schools to restrict student phone use on school grounds.

Joining Assemblymember Alvarez, will be educators, students, and other stakeholders who championed the bill’s passage.
