Alvarez and Community Members Speak Out Against Proposed Halfway House

What: Opposition to Item 203: Allocation of Community Development Block Grant Funds for the Rehabilitation of 1788 Palm Avenue (Super 8 motel) for the Palm Avenue Transitional Housing Project and Item 204: Palm Ave Transitional Housing for the Smart Program  

When: Monday, December 11th at 12:30PM

Where: News Conference Room, City Administration Building, 202 C Street, 13th floor

Why: The San Diego City Council will be voting Monday on whether to allocate $6,500,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to rehabilitate an existing 61-unit motel into a halfway housing for up to 84 SMART Program participants. The acquisition of this property was approved 8-1 by the City Council on July 17, 2017 with Alvarez voting no.
