SAN DIEGO (March 17, 2015) – Councilmember Alvarez has issued the following statement in response to the San Diego City Council’s denial of the resolution opposing San Diego Gas and Electric’s (SDG&E) Residential Electricity Tariff Structure:
“San Diegans should prepare themselves for a rate increase. It’s truly unfortunate that the Council did not take the opportunity to send a strong signal to SDG&E, since this proposal impacts residential customers who are conserving the most ,” said Councilmember David Alvarez. “Instead, the majority of the Council passed a watered-down version, letting SDG&E off the hook and directing what it knew to be a meaningless message to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).”
The California Public Utilities Commission will issue a proposed decision on SDG&E’s plan soon.
